Nazareth Farm
Nazareth Farm is a Catholic community in rural West Virginia that transforms lives through a service-retreat experience. We are devoted to living out the Gospel message through the cornerstones of community, simplicity, prayer, and service. We serve alongside our neighbors to address substandard housing by providing home repair. We celebrate the richness of Appalachia and experience God by building relationships between our volunteers and the local community.
Come spend a week living out the four cornerstones of: Prayer, Simplicity, Service, and Community. It is a retreat, a service experience, and the time of your life, all rolled in to one incredible experience of love. On this trip you might be painting, roofing a house. or planting a garden.
During this experience you will learn about the hospitality of those living in West Virginia. You will meet other students from throughout the country and you will come home having a greater understanding of the blessings in your own life.

I spent the last week at a marvelous place called Nazareth Farm, nestled in the hills of Doddridge County, West Virginia. Naz Farm is something between a retreat and a service project. You go for a week as a volunteer and are immediately accepted as family. You are asked to live by their four cornerstones of Prayer, Service, Community, and Simplicity, and there's a lot of all four to be found. ... let me just say that it is completely unlike (and superior to) any other retreat and/or service project you have ever or will ever do. If you're looking for an amazing spiritual experience or just a good charity to which to donate, take a look at Naz Farm. Just bear in mind that it is a Catholic organization, and the goings-on are very much Catholic.

I have been thinking for over an hour about what to write. Everything that comes to mind doesn't do Nazareth Farm justice..... I had never prayed so much, or felt so close to God. I had never found a family within a group of people I had known for less than week. I have never felt the love that I do here. I have never been so sad about leaving anything behind.

There is no way to express the things that happened on the Nazareth Farm trip, it is an experience I will never forget. There are few places where you can clear your head and strengthen your relationship with God. Nazareth Farm is definitely one of those places. I met so many different people and made so many new friends. But most importantly, I found God on this trip.

We looked forward to this new experience but none of us could ever have imagined it would’ve been like this. Even Cindy Black who led us to West Virginia, hardly expected what the Holy Spirit had in store for us and the 40 other college aged volunteers. It was amazing how we became so close with people from across the U.S. that we had just met. By the end of the week we found it extremely hard to say goodbye. We want to thank Cindy for blessing our lives with this amazing experience by taking us to Nazareth Farm. May God Bless the Community of St. Patrick!
